Honoring Charles H. Coolidge: A Family Archive

Updated: Apr 16

This archive has been a long time coming! For the last few years, I’ve been busy preserving, scanning, organizing, and archiving many of the photos, documents, letters, and family items from the Coolidge family and in particular, Charles H. Coolidge. This website will be a place to host all of those photos, letters, and memories so that the entire family can access and enjoy them. The beauty of a family archive website is that it goes beyond just preserving the past. It also allows you to submit any of your own materials for inclusion in the archive, creating a living history that can continue to grow and evolve.

This archive will not only honor the memory of Charles H. Coolidge, but will hopefully help strengthen the bonds we all have as family and friends. My hope is also that the legacy of Charles H. Coolidge will live on for future generations to appreciate and learn from. It will be a tribute to the sacrifices he made and the bravery he showed during one of the darkest times in our history.

Building this site has been a labor of love—not only to preserve our family's history, but to make it accessible, meaningful, and alive for all of us. Charles H. Coolidge was not only a Medal of Honor recipient; he was a humble man who carried the weight of war with quiet dignity, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. His story, like so many from the Greatest Generation, is one of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to others.

While much of this archive will focus on his service during WII, I hope we can also reflect on more than just his military service. I hope we remember his sense of humor, his kindness, his values, and his “never give up” attitude! Please feel free to explore the site, read his letters, and look at the photos. If you have something you’d like to contribute, just drop me a message using the contact page!

Thank you,

Brad Coolidge
